Our journey in the world of olive oil
Our journey in the world of olive oil began in 1930 when our great-grandfather Dimitris planted the first olive trees and established our family’s first olive mill. Later, our grandfather Nikos Markellos, with the invaluable support of our grandmother Eleni, expanded the olive groves and developed the family business.
The third generation, Dimitris and Panagiotis, brought technological upgrades and a new facility. In 2014, the fourth generation took the lead, and in 2019 we established our own bottling unit and launched our first branded products.
And so…our journey continues.

Εκδρομουλα οικογενειακη σημερα, σ’ αυτο το συγχρονο ελαιοτριβειο, διακεκριμενων προδιαγραφων..! Ο Νικος Μαρκελλος που ανελαβε ο ιδιος την ξεναγηση μας στις εγκαταστασεις τους, δεν θα μπορουσε παρα να μας μεταδωσει αμεσως το χαμογελο και τον ενθουσιασμο του..!!
Η μικρη μας ξετρελαθηκε, αφου παρακολουθησε ζωντανα, μεσα απο τα 3D γυαλια εικονικης πρσγματικοτητας ενα – ενα τα σταδια απο την ελια στο λαδι, κατι “ξενο” φυσικα για παιδι της πολης..! Συμπληρωθηκε η εμπειρια μας με κερασμα γευσιγνωσιας..
Ηρθε ετσι λοιπον αβιαστα “το μαθημα”, οτι οταν το μερακι και η διψα για προοδο συναντα την παραδεδομενη γνωση, ευκολα ανοιγει ο δρομος για τις διεθνεις διακρισεις, για να ανεβουμε επιπεδο στην τεχνογνωσια και να συμπαρασυρουμε βιωματικα τους υπολοιπους, οπως την μικρη μας κι εμας σημερα… Παιδια, αιωνοβιες ριζες και χρυσους καρπους παντα στη ζωη σας!!! Ευχαριστουμε!
If you are a foodie and care about what you eat I would definitely recommend to take an olive tour at Markellos! We had an amazing tour by Nikolaos through the whole olive oil production process, with VR experience and eye opening olive oil degustation at the end.
These guys are putting all their souls in what they do and without exaggeration this was one of the best tours I had in my life!
If you want to start understanding and distinguishing really high quality olive oil, I highly recommend visiting these positive and hospitable guys!
We had an amazing experience at Markellos Olive mill.
Nikos is a great person, with huge passion for hosting people and telling the story of his family and the mill. The tour through the mill was thorough, and Nikos is very patient for questions and explanations.
Part of the tour is tasting of their olive oil – that is truly superb (we went out with a few bottles ;) ), and Nikos also showed us how a professional olive oil tasting is done.
Really a unique experience you don’t want to miss. We’re so glad we went there, one of the highlights of our trip.

My husband and I visited many vineyards during our stay in the Peloponnese Region, but our visit to Markellos Olive Factory was by far the best and most enjoyable experience.
